great debut release and new label from a rubadub shop regular featuring tracks from shop regulars. tip. this first release is made up of 3 tracks from my friends and 1 from myself. there’s no concept here other than putting out music that was otherwise not going to see the light of day. the first track is by bleaker who put out a 12inch on unknown to the unknown last year, the second by miz aka big miz whos been putting out music on dixon avenue basement jams, the third by the burrell connection who has a release on west end communications and a track on a craig knows released compilation and the last track is from myself which got a play on big mizs boiler room set. these tracks were all sent to me around the same time and it felt right to make a place for them on a record. bleaker, miz and the burrell connection have all been making waves in scotland and beyond and these 3 tracks are proof that the attention is warranted. and i dont think my track is too bad either.

clavis is the new collaborative project of manuel tur and adrian hoffmann (of paskal and urban absolutes). their debut banza ep on freerange last year won many fans and received countless plays from the likes of dixon, ame, tim sweeny and damian lazarus. this brilliant follow up has already received glowing praise from deetron, h.o.s.h, anja schneider and laurent garnier.

son of sound aka henry maldonado has been producing influential house music dating back right back to 1991. he has released on strictly rhythm as house 2 house, maxi records as deja vu and maw records as rhythm section. son of sound has recently appeared on tirk and local talk before dropping the bomb that is jewel eye nights on jus ed s underground quality. he also has releases scheduled for later in the year on razor n tape and city fly. currently working on a collaboration ep with recloose for his own district 30 label. henry is also host of the highly regarded hit it and quit it radio show on the lot and east village radio with recloose and private panther.

when we signed bosq s tumbala featuring puerto rican legend tempo alomar on vocals last year we knew that it was a multi-cultural masterpiece. we also knew that giving it a boost for the club could take it to a whole other stratosphere. so we enlisted another one of our favorite multi culti producers, auntie flo to take it for a spin, and boy did he turn out a club jam!

they say you have your whole life to make your first album, years upon years of growth, learning and experience filtered into one perfect record. your debut is supposed to be the one you labour over, while the follow-up is meant to be served up within spitting distance of the last. well, not if you’re london based wild palms. “we did that in reverse,” explains the band’s sardonic, quick-witted frontman lou hill. “the first album was just the songs that we would play live, we wrote it really quickly. but this one took ages...” five years in fact.

here at control room recordings we feature analog only synthesizer recordings and one off and special projects. our last release was from the human league and we are pleased to be following that up with another titanic group from the 80s visage. following the tragic death of steve strange in feb 2015 visage and steve strange s family are planning a series of events to honour steve s life and commemorate the impact that he made on the worlds of fashion, music and style. one of those events is the fifth and final studio album from visage. as a bridge between the highly successful fourth album hearts and knives and this future album we are pleased to be releasing a vinyl only special single.

those familiar with the world of dub disco and modern balearica should know all about layne fox, a san francisco-based producer who has released some killer records over the last decade as part of noted collective 40 thieves. the bay area ensemble has been responsible for some killer records, including gems on rong music and leng, who released their expansive debut album the sky is yours back in 2014. now, fox has decided to go it alone for an outing on magic feet that marks his first solo outing since 2005 s move me under the tuffy alias. its something of a gem, too, effortlessly combining many of his familiar influences with nods towards druggy italo-disco and horizontal pop.

mindtrip presents mt13, which sees another young argentinan talent - farceb - making his mindtrip debut. farceb is a producer whos been pricking ears over the last couple of years with strong releases on labels such as arts, orioni and circular limited. he now joins pfirters imprint with his superb signals from space ep. exoplanet war sets things in motion and is a stylish, entrancing tune, which, if it wasnt for its intrinsic energy and power - would border on the somniferous. next up is signals from space, a tough, brutal and percussive workout, punctuated by dark, organic synth stabs. this track builds and rolls along in a way dancefloors will love. unknown shadow is a powerful, stripped down merciless lump of peak-time techno which cleverly blends atmosphere and hard hitting percussion. the final track - the superb hyperion, is a 6 minute, deadly exercise in pushing intensity and tension to (and sometimes beyond) commonsensical limits. this is mindtrip music!

originally released in a limited edition of 500 copies in 1982 monoton’s second album ‘monotonprodukt 07’ is now a collector item and also one of the most important album of all-time. it has been voted one of the 100 best records by highly influential uk magazine the wire. monoton was founded in 1979 by hypermedia wizard konrad becker as an art project that underwent various transformations and collaborations in its exploration of psycho-active sound. a pioneer in experimental electronic music, becker continued to break new ground in electronic media. monotonprodukt 07 has been reissued on vinyl by desire (and is still available as a double picture-discs limited to 500 copies. it’s the first time ever that tracks from the album are remixed and desire is proud to had such great artists/producers as us prositutes, svengalighost with fellow partner and l.i.e.s. boss and hospital productions artist ron morelli. the last remix is the work of great mancunian duo rainer veil (modern love). an incredible remix package that do justice to this classic album ! mastered by matt colton at alchemy.

liverpool is frankie goes to hollywood’s second and last studio album, released in october 1986. it would be the band’s final album of all-new material, and lead singer holly johnson would leave the band following the corresponding world tour.

last year saw the mysterious garage shelter make their debut appearance on skylax, and little is still known about them! all we know is they are back with some freshness on the skylax classic sublabel. first up is bring back love, a track that will sink its claws in with that infectious vocal sample hook. sticking with the old school sample vibe is the lonely heart dub of attempt, it’s a bit more mellow but still has plenty of groove in it. friend of the garage shelter, dj la foudre, appears over on the b side with it’s alright (signal st mix). still on that catchy sample tip, it features one of the grooviest bassline and funky guitar pairings i’ve heard in a long time. next up, perception 66 is a smooth house affair from yet another friend, asa no hikari. rounding out the package is garage shelter’s own you (still), a dreamy pad-driven track that may indeed be the pick of the release. while we don’t know much about garage shelter, we can’t help but look forward to what they come out with next!

lakker were commissioned by the re:vive initiative to create a new conceptual work solely sampling field recording, tv and radio broadcasts from the dutch national av archive, the netherlands institute for sound and vision. the curated material provided all related to and was representative of the theme the “dutch and water”.
the resulting 8 track release “struggle and emerge” is a tense soundtrack to the machine driven mid-20th century that captures the complex relationship between the dutch and the water that surrounds them- unyielding, colossal, industrial.
